Joy Journal

Happy Fall!!!! Earlier this year, I decided to make an effort to take stock of the little things that bring me happiness – even if only for a moment. So I compiled a few things that have done just that for me recently.

Of course it wouldnโ€™t be a blog post unless I added some photos of flowers. I found these surprise flowers in our garden. They bloomed just before the rain showers last week.

๐Ÿ“– After entering a bunch of giveaways over on Goodreads, I got lucky and won a copy of Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro. ๐Ÿ˜† The texture of this book also feels so nice I wish you could feel it.

Iโ€™ve been fighting my reading slump tooth and nail, but in September I finally got through a book longer than 100 pages. Fingers crossed I can keep it up, because there are plenty of tales Iโ€™ve been dying to dive into. ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿพ

What Iโ€™m Watching:

๐Ÿ“บ Currently Iโ€™m enjoying a lot of shows (and probably starting too many new ones ๐Ÿ˜…). As expected I am watching all the fantasies. House of the Dragon and Rings of Power are my top political fantasies and epic fantasies respectively. Let me declare myself as Team Black while weโ€™re at it. Iโ€™m also loving The Serpent Queen which follows Catherine De Mediciโ€™s rise to power with a format that is different from other historical/period dramas Iโ€™ve seen. And I couldnโ€™t forget to mention my comfort show Abbott Elementary, which follows a group of teachers in Philly.

๐ŸŽฅ I also watched Wedding Season after a friend recommended it. Itโ€™s a super cute movie about a couple fake dating during the wedding season to avoid being set up by their families. I also saw Do Revenge, which felt like a new spin/love letter to teen movies from the 90s and early 2000s.
